Hearing great things about this month's book selection

4/27/2010

I haven't had a chance to start Sarah's Key yet, but I am hearing great things about it from other members.  It sounds like a real page turner and that is the kind of book I love.  Last month's selection was my favorite so far of the ones that we have read, so hopefully this one will top that!  I have been very busy making blankets and teaching blanket lessons.  More on that in the Knot KNews blog (when I get a chance to sit down and catch up).  Happy reading and see you next month at the meeting.

We still need a book choice for June.

Need recommendations for June book

I picked up The Girls from Ames at Kroger the other day.  It was on sale for 25% off and is in paperback.  I will probably read it before Sarah's Key.  I am finding that I read the book club selection too early in the month before we meet, and I don't remember the details as vividly.  I guess I am always afraid that I won't have time to finish it before we meet, so I read it earlier in the month. Hopefully I will finish it in time!

Would love to hear some suggestions for June, July, and August.

Sarah's Key by  Tatiana de Rosnay (historical fiction) has been officially picked as our May book.  We have had several good recommendations about this book, and I am looking forward to it.  It is out in paperback.  It is my understanding that it has more than one cover photograph, but I think this one is the most popular/common of the two.  See below for a book review and and interview with the author.

I finished the book club book for this month and I loved it.  Good character development - which is my favorite thing in a book.   Sherry was over the other day and she has started Roses.  She said it is VERY good and a real page turner.  It is only out in hardcover and is a very thick book, but it is one that we talked about at the last book club meeting.  Anyway, she is recommending it.  We have some good selections put up for summer decisions.  I am in the mood to buy some books!

I like to think that I can't be described in a short paragraph.  Some adjectives:  curious, caring, kind, generous, excitable, motivated, emotional, fun, organized. What do you think?    Claire
