One is that when I would get home from spending the day with mom, I didn't feel like concentrating on a book, but I could work on my crochet edging on these fleece blankets. It was calming and so much FUN. I am hooked big time. The second reason is that after reading the first few chapters, I felt like I was reading a medical textbook, and it just wasn't what I needed at the time.
I know that several of the members didn't have a chance to read it because they were going to be out of town for the meeting anyway. The members that came on Thursday liked the book and recommended it. We didn't get a chance to discuss it because everyone that was here was either a crocheter or wanting to learn how to do the edges. We had a crochet night and it was lots of fun. We even had a surprise visitor, Martha. Martha makes blankets for us, and went to Star of Hope when we donated them last year, but she is usually unable to attend the evening meetings. She really wanted to know how to do these edgings, so she dropped by and Amy gave her a quick lesson.
I have wonderful photos that I am trying to get together so I can show off all of the blankets that we already have donated. We have tied ones, crochet edged ones, and sewed ones. Looks like we have a wonderful start for 2011.
We do not meet in July, but are going to try to plan a lunch. I am thinking about Ashland Tea House. Cheri requests that it be on a Monday or Friday as those are the days that she has off. I am thinking about the third Friday of the month. What do you think?
