Rescued Kitty

Here's a photo of the rescued kitty.  She is a little scared to get her picture taken, so she isn't smiling :)   She is also only 7 pounds and carrying 5-6 babies, so it's not the best of times for her.  She is mostly stomach and you can see that in the photo.  You can't see her pretty white stocking feet and legs, but I didn't want to keep bothering her just to get a better photo.  She is still a little frightened, but getting better each day.  She is really eating a lot, so hopefully we can get some weight on her before she delivers.  I don't know whether to hope that she has them before we leave, at the vet's office while we are gone, or that she waits until we get back home.  I just want them to be healthy and safe.

At least I don't look as ridiculous as Winston does in his photo below !!!!!!

New Mascot?

This is hilarious!!   I can't believe that someone really did this, but they did mention that it was "one" of the hats that was knitted for him.  Do you think he should be our new mascot?  Do you think we should ask her for her pattern?

Items to discuss at August (and possibly September) meetings

Below are a few topics for discussion at our August meeting.  We need to touch base with each other and make a few decisions.  Anything that you have on your mind that you would like to discuss - please do so.   Can't wait to see you on the 19th!

1.  When we will deliver blankets, clothes, items, etc. to Star of Hope this year (thinking sometime in early November)?
2.  Who is coming with me (hope lots of volunteers)?
3.  What is our community project for next year?
4.  Who will receive our project next year (can still be Star of Hope because they have a complete turn-over each year)?
5.  What is the requirement for participation (number of items to be made) for project?
6.  Any other concerns, suggestions you have (please be thinking of things that you want to discuss).
7.  Is current book list OK?   Any other suggestions for book list?
8.  Do we want to have a "bring a friend" addition to the September meeting?
9.  Do you keep up with the website and read the blogs?
10.Suggestions for improvement.
11.Did kit purchase by me help the # of blankets, or is it best to let everyone purchase their own material?

Meeting next week

I am so excited that we are finally going to get together again!  Even though the summer has been incredibly busy, I missed seeing all of you.  It sounds like we will have quite a few blankets turned in this month.  That is very exciting.  It will be nice to catch up with everyone and hear about what you did this summer.

As most of you know, I have had family, and then an extra 10 days with Averie, so I have been on the go.  I posted photos today, under the link August Visit, if you want to check out a few of the things that we did.  She was fascinated by all of the blankets and the "blanket closet" and she tied a few knots on one of them.  We had a great time, and I am happy to have a few days to myself to catch up with things.  She is already wanting to schedule her next visit with us.

My mom has had quite a bit of testing lately - mostly to get her established with new doctors here.  We have been running back and forth to the doctor at least once or twice a week.  We will find out some of the results next week, and then the last week of August she will be having out-patient eye surgery. This should really help her with the eye problem that she has been having for several years.  Hopefully she will come to the meeting this week.

I have the September meeting scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of the month because we will be on vacation that month.  Also, I am hoping that some of you will be able to bring someone new to the September meeting - at least to see what we do.  We also need to talk about what we are going to do for the following year.  This will be the beginning of our second year together as a group!  Hope to see you next week at 6:30.

I would like to think that I can't be described in a short paragraph.  Some adjectives that come to mind:  curious, caring, kind, generous, excitable, motivated, emotional, fun, organized. What do you think?    Claire
