August Meeting

8/17/2012

It was so great to see everybody last night. I think that is the first time in a long time that all of us (minus one) were together on the same evening. It was great! Sounds like everybody had a wonderful and BUSY summer! My suggestion for the next August meeting (yes, I know it is a year away) is that we eliminate a book for the August meeting. None of us had a chance to read it anyway, and we needed all of our meeting time to catch up on what we had been doing all summer. How does that sound?

There is a September book recommendation on the website. It was recommended by Martha and Susan earlier in the summer. I believe they said it was out in paperback. I don't remember if they said they had copies, but I am sure the library does. This is the start of our third year together.

I know that every August I worry if anyone is going to show up and if we are going to be able to keep our group together. I hope last night proved that we are going strong. It was very exciting to toast to another year. I heard (and I feel the same way) that everyone wants to take a break from the blanket making. We have exceeded our goal for Project Linus for this year, so I am proposing that we take a break from the blanket making for a while and just be a book club/social club. Of course, if you want to make more blankets to count for this year, or next year, you are certainly welcome to do so. Any feedback on this issue would be appreciated, and we can always discuss it at next month's meeting. I have plenty of free fleece that they donated that we can use anytime.

Project Linus starts their meetings in September, and I hope some of you will be able to attend. It is a fun group of ladies, and there is always a wonderful homemade lunch. The "tacking" that we do while there is SUPER EASY. Anyone can do it, so please try to come to a meeting if you can. They meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month, which is September 13. I usually try to get there around 9:30, but the time is flexible. I hope we get to deliver blankets this year - that was one of my favorite things to do.

I would like to think that I can't be described in a short paragraph.  Some adjectives that come to mind:  curious, caring, kind, generous, excitable, motivated, emotional, fun, organized. What do you think?    Claire
