Everyone seemed to like the book, and we didn't get a chance to finish all of the questions. I wanted to talk about the end of the book, because I had some "issues" with it, but we just didn't get around to it. We were too busy talking about all kinds of things.
Thank you Tanya for bringing some plants. Martha went home with Aloe and Airplane plants, and I'm not sure what, if anything, others took. I have the perfect place in one of my back beds for the other airplane plants, and I am going to start working on my succulents today. I couldn't believe how tiny there were, and also how perfectly formed. As mine start making babies, I will be able to give you guys some if you want them.
Thanks to Amy for more instructions on crochet edgings. My goal for the weekend is to get the double crochet instructions on the website and possibly 2-3 of the edgings we talked about. If you now know how to do a chain stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, slip stitch, and the double crochet from last night, you can do any of these edgings, plus any others you see. They are all just different combinations of these stitches. As you can see from some of Amy's last night, you can mix and match and create ones of your own - just be sure to share them with us.
If you are still struggling with the foundation edge, please let me know, or tell us at the next meeting. You really need to be able to do that correctly and smoothly before moving on to the other steps. You can also use that same pattern of stitches (single crochet, chain stitch, single crochet, chain stitch) for a very nice second or third border. It looks great. Check the website and you will see those pictured.
Also, please check the website for instructions on how to do all of these things. Sometimes your mind might just go blank and you can't remember how to do something (or at least mine does) and it is all written out for you on the website. I know many of you are referring to it and telling me that it helps. Yeah!!
Well, I'm off to the succulent plants. I want to try to identify some of them, and I have to get them out of the house. The kitties are carrying them around and playing with the little ones like they are toys. I plan on painting some of my planters over the weekend and getting started. Now all I need is some cooler weather, no mosquitoes, and some succulent soil.
Have a great weekend. I will update Book Blog, Knots Knews Blog, and Crochet Edges as soon as I can. Have a great weekend.
